Belt, Bryant and Crawford. Oh my!
You ever have one of those nights where you’re pretty tired, so you’re just kind of half listening to the game and scrolling through social media? Naturally, if the Giants aren’t up by 10 runs, Giants fans on Twitter will make it seem as though a season-collapse is in progress.
So there I was last night, doomscrolling, as the kids say, assuming the Giants were losing by seven. Only to hear back to back home runs from Brandon Belt and Kris Bryant, and suddenly the crowd was chanting “MVP” for Brandon Crawford’s triple and I lost track of time and space. What year is it? What team am I watching? How come I can smell colors??
The 2021 Giants should be a controlled substance.

Belt and Bryant are out here trying to get paid. And friends, we ride at dawn to back up the Brinks truck to the front office.
As for Crawford? Well, he’s showing that maybe the “old guys” are worth one more deal.
Brandon Crawford since July 1
0-hit games: 3
1-hit games: 12
2-hit games: 6
3-hit games: 6 (including tonight)
4-hit games: 1He’s hitting .422 over that stretch.

And that was before the triple. Per Andrew Baggarly of The Athletic, Crawford raised his average to .306 during last night’s game, which is fifth among qualified NL batters. MVP indeed. At least in our hearts.
