We’re going to check in with Giants fans periodically throughout the season to find out what they think about the season so far.
Good morning, baseball fans!
We are into the second month of San Francisco Giants baseball. So it’s time for another check-in to see how Giants fans are feeling about the season thus far. I plan to do these about once a month over the season, so there’s plenty of time to get your hot takes in before being proven wrong by time, as you do.
Personally, I was starting to get a little concerned about the team last week when they lost two in a row to the San Diego Padres and started the series against the Colorado Rockies with a loss. But they quickly righted the ship, taking three of four against the Rockies. As you should when playing the Rockies.
In last month’s check-in, I said that I can’t bring myself to have any real complaints about the performance of this team thus far. As of the time this is being written, they are 22-14. I’ve been covering the team for nearly a decade now, and I cannot remember the last season I covered where they had a winning record of any kind. (I did not return to the site until the tail end of the 2021 season, sadly, so I didn’t get to enjoy that one.)
Do I have my concerns about some of the pitchers? Yes. Is the offense as consistent as I would like? It could be more consistent.
But the fact that we’re six weeks or so into the season and they aren’t having a do-si-do with .500 is a massive improvement, in my book. No notes. Keep it up.
