Bailey exited Friday’s game after taking a hard-hit foul ball to the face.
Good morning, baseball fans!
Unfortunately it’s not great news this morning. During yesterday’s San Francisco Giants vs. Philadelphia Phillies game, catcher Patrick Bailey got roughed up behind the plate, taking multiple foul ball hits. Most alarmingly was this one, off the bat of hard-hitting Phillies third-baseman Alec Bohm.
Bailey was later removed from the game because he was having blurred vision.
The Giants say Patrick Bailey was removed from the game because of blurred vision and is being evaluated. He took a pretty hard foul tip off the mask in the first inning: pic.twitter.com/QKKPODpBbP

After the game, Bob Melvin said that Bailey was feeling better, and Bailey was not immediately put on the concussion protocol, though that could change in the morning.
Fingers crossed that he’s okay, but I’m of the opinion that it’s always better not to play around with potential concussions, and just err on the side of caution. But I’m also of the opinion that the Giants kind of have a history of not doing that. (See: Brandon Belt, Mac Williamson, etc.)
What time do the Giants play this weekend?
The Giants conclude this series against the Phillies this weekend, with Saturday’s game starting at 3:05 p.m. PT and Sunday’s game starting at 4:10 p.m. PT.
