The Sacramento Kings decided to begin entertaining De’Aaron Fox trade offers in January shortly after Doug Christie spoke with Rich Paul. The Kings had gone 11-4 since Christie was elevated to interim head coach and there was a hope that Fox’s stance on the franchise might have changed.
But Paul informed Christie that Fox’s position on the Kings hadn’t changed and that he was even “firmer in the belief that his prime seasons were better spent elsewhere,” according to The Athletic.
Later that day, Monte McNair and Wes Wilcox informed Paul that they were prepared to listen to trade offers on Fox. Within a week, Fox was traded to his preferred destination in the San Antonio Spurs.
