The Sacramento Kings are prioritizing the addition of a point guard this offseason after trading away De’Aaron Fox ahead of the deadline. Jrue Holiday and Marcus Smart are a pair of potential trade targets, while Malcolm Brogdon could be a more affordable free agent option.
The Kings acquired Zach LaVine as part of the trade return for Fox. LaVine combines with Malik Monk and DeMar DeRozan as three capable ballhandlers, but not a true point guard among them. Holiday, Smart and Brogdon are point guards who do bring value off the ball.
Scott Perry replaced Monte McNair this offseason to run the Kings’ front office and went on record during his introductory press conference emphasizing the need for improved playmaking.
The Kings are also attempting to trade into the second half of the first round.
