The Sacramento Kings are in a bit of transition under new general manager Scott Perry. After trading into the first round of the 2025 NBA Draft to select Nique Clifford, the Kings will now turn to addressing other roster questions.
One of the items in question this offseason is a potential extension for Zach LaVine. The veteran guard has two years left on his contract, with $47.5 million for this season and a $48.9 million player option for 2026-27. LaVine is extension-eligible, but Sacramento isn’t prioritizing a new deal for him this summer.
The future of Domantas Sabonis has been in question, as well. However, the Kings are committed to building around the veteran center. Sabonis was frustrated with Sacramento trading De’Aaron Fox at last season’s deadline, but hasn’t gotten to the point of asking for a trade. The Kings are reportedly targeting several veteran point guards when free agency opens on June 30.
