Sacramento looks to get back in the win column in tonight’s contest vs. Golden State.
The Sacramento Kings (1-1) will host the Golden State Warriors (2-0) on Sunday at Golden 1 Center. Sacramento will look to get back in the win column while Golden State will try to continue their hot streak coming fresh off of a victory vs. the Los Angeles Clippers on Thursday.
Sacramento gave a valiant effort in their home opener Friday evening, falling to the Utah Jazz 101-110 after the offense stalled in the fourth quarter. Key areas in which Sacramento saw success in their season debut vs. the Portland Trail Blazers are exactly where they will need to draw from to claim a victory vs. the Warriors, starting with their shooting from beyond the arc.
The Kings only shot 8-34 from 3-point land in Friday’s contest, a statistic that will need to likely double in order to keep up with sharpshooter Stephen Curry, who scored 45 points against the Clippers on Thursday. A tale of two offenses will undoubtedly define this game.
Behind Curry is the newly-anointed splashing sibling Jordan Poole and Andrew Wiggins. They will need to be limited in their shot selection from deep. Meanwhile, the Kings will need the be firing on all cylinders, with key contributions from the red hot Harrison Barnes, De’Aaron Fox and Buddy Hield.
Defensively, Sacramento will likely continue to rely on rookie Davion Mitchell, who, thus far, has managed to give an “Off Night” to All-Star guards Damian Lillard and Donovan Mitchell. If Mitchell and the rest of the Kings’ unit can tighten their defense to put the clamps on early, it should be a successful night from Golden 1 Center.
