Fox finished ahead of Russell Westbrook and Ja Morant in the voting.
Every year, prior to the start of the regular season, NBA general managers answer a series of questions that make up the NBA.com GM survey. It’s always interesting to look at how some of the decision-makers in the league value players on other teams.
The most relevant detail pertaining to the Kings was that De’Aaron Fox was named the consensus fastest player with the ball in his hands in the league. Fox finished with 59% of the vote, comfortably ahead of athletic speedsters behind him like Ja Morant, Russell Westbrook and Ish Smith.
Here are the full results:
1. De’Aaron Fox, Sacramento – 59%
2. Ja Morant, Memphis – 24%
3. Russell Westbrook, L.A. Lakers – 14%
4. Ish Smith, Charlotte – 3%
It’s not necessarily a surprise to see Fox get recognition here, because Kings fans know the type of end-to-end speed he possesses, but it’s nice to see the national NBA landscape recognize it.
Another King that was voted for a few times in the survey was Davion Mitchell who received a few votes under three rookie-centric questions, about who will win rookie of the year, which rookie will be the best player in five years, and who will be the biggest steal based on their draft position.
Last season, Tyrese Haliburton was chosen as the guy voted as the biggest steal based on where he was drafted, which has ended being true so far.
Harrison Barnes received some votes as one of the NBA players that would be the best head coach after his playing career. New Kings’ assistant Mike Longabardi also received votes for the question regarding who the best assistant coach in the NBA is.
