Sacramento Kings forward Trey Lyles has been suspended for one game, the NBA announced Wednesday afternoon.
Lyles was punished for his role in a late-game altercation with Milwaukee Bucks center Brook Lopez, who was fined $25,000. Lopez came to the defense of teammate Giannis Antetokounmpo, who drew Lyles’ ire for the way he was dribbling out the final seconds of the Bucks’ 133-124 win.
After Lyles fouled and shoved Antetokounmpo, the Greek Freak walked away from the confrontation.
However, that’s when Lopez jumped in. The veteran big man was “mushed” in the face by Lyles.
Lyles scored six points, grabbed seven rebounds and dished out four assists in 27 minutes against Milwaukee.
For the season, he’s averaging 7.9 points and 3.9 rebounds per outing while shooting 37.6% from three-point range.
The former Kentucky standout and 2015 first-round pick will miss Sacramento’s road game at Chicago tonight and can return from suspension against the Nets tomorrow.
