Arguably the most exciting part of the NBA calendar is here! It’s officially time for the 2025 NBA free agency period to get underway, and a whole lot is going to happen in the coming hours, days, and weeks. For the Golden State Warriors, the big question is what will happen with restricted free agent Jonathan Kuminga, who has been tendered a qualifying offer. We’ll also wait to see whether the team can find a way to add some proven veterans to pair alongside Steph Curry, Jimmy Butler III, and Draymond Green.

I’ll update this article regularly with the latest in NBA free agency, both with the Warriors and with the other 29 teams. I’ll add all the moves, reports, and rumors, with the newest news at the top.

  • Point guard Tyus Jones is headed to the Orlando Magic for one year and $7 million, per Shams Charania. Orlando has had a fantastic offseason after trading for Desmond Bane.
  • Guard Nickeil Alexander-Walker is signing a four-year deal with the Atlanta Hawks worth $62 million, per Shams Charania. Alexander-Walker played all 82 games last year for the Timberwolves, and had one of the best seasons of his career.
  • Center Luka Garza is signing a two-year, $5.5 million deal with the Boston Celtics, per Shams Charania. The Celtics have lost a lot of talent this offseason, but now they’re getting a little bit back.
  • Veteran center Brook Lopez is signing a two-year, $18 million contract with the LA Clippers, per Shams Charania. Lopez, a 17-year veteran who attended Stanford, is returning home, as he was born in Southern California. It’s his second stint playing in the area, after spending the 2017-18 season with the Lakers. He was viewed by some as a potential target for the Warriors.
  • Guard Caris LeVert is signing with the Detroit Pistons for two years and $29 million, per Shams Charania. LeVert has really got his career back on track following some difficult injuries.
  • Center Clint Capela is returning to the Houston Rockets for three years and $21.5 million. Capela spent the first six years of his career in Houston, but had spent the last five seasons playing for the Hawks. He’s another big get in a massive offseason for the Rockets, who have also signed Dorian Finney-Smith and traded for Kevin Durant.
  • Center Luke Kornet is signing a four-year, $41 million deal with the San Antonio Spurs, per Shams Charania. He becomes just the latest championship-winner to leave the Celtics as their offseason purge continues. And, at 7’2, he gives the Spurs another one of the tallest players in the NBA to have next to Victor Wembanyama.
  • Warriors legend Kevon Looney is leaving the only team he’s ever known, after a decade and three rings. Looney is signing a two-year, $16 million deal with the New Orleans Pelicans, per Shams Charania. It’s unclear if that’s more money than the Warriors were willing to offer, if he was chasing an opportunity with more playing time, or both.
  • Guard Kevin Porter Jr. is re-signing with the Milwaukee Bucks on a two-year, $11 million contract, per Shams Charania. Milwaukee needs all the perimeter help they can get with Damian Lillard out for the year.
  • Former Warriors point guard Ty Jerome is cashing in with a three-year, $28 million deal with the Memphis Grizzlies, per Shams Charania. Jerome played for the Warriors on a two-way contract during the 2022-23 season, and parlayed his performance into a modest two-year deal with the Cleveland Cavaliers. After missing almost all of the 2023-24 season due to injury, Jerome had a breakout year this season, and now he’s taking it to the bank.
  • The Denver Nuggets are trading Michael Porter Jr., along with an unprotected first-round pick in 2032, to the Brooklyn Nets for Cam Johnson, per Shams Charania. Johnson is a player that the Warriors fanbase has coveted for years, and now he’s going to a team they’re fighting in the standings. Porter has star potential, but it never fully materialized in Denver.
  • Former Warriors point guard D’Angelo Russell is linking up with a few old teammates by signing a two-year, $13 million deal with the Dallas Mavericks, per Shams Charania. The former All-Star played with Klay Thompson on the Warriors and with Anthony Davis on the Lakers. He’ll reportedly have a player option for the second year.
  • Guard Tre Jones is re-signing with the Chicago Bulls for three years and $24 million, per Shams Charania. He only played 18 games for Chicago following a deadline deal trade from the Spurs, but he impressed.
  • Big man Jake LaRavia is signing a two-year, $12 million deal with the Los Angeles Lakers, per Shams Charania. Los Angeles doesn’t have a lot of financial flexibility given their commitments to LeBron James and Luka Dončić, but this is a nice get for them.
  • Cam Spencer, the brother of Warriors guard Pat Spencer, is re-signing with the Memphis Grizzlies for two years and $4.5 million, per Shams Charania. Spencer played on a two-way contract last year.
  • Big man Paul Reed is re-signing with the Detroit Pistons for two years and $11 million, per Shams Charania. He spent one year with the Pistons following a four-year career with the 76ers.
  • The Houston Rockets are signing wing Dorian Finney-Smith to a four-year, $53 million contract, per Shams Charania. This comes after the Rockets already added Kevin Durant via trade. Watch out for Houston!
  • Big man Santi Aldama is returning to the only team he’s ever known, re-signing with the Memphis Grizzlies for three years and $52.5 million following a career season.
  • The Memphis Grizzlies and Jaren Jackson Jr. have renegotiated to sign a max contract of five years and $240 million with a player option, per Shams Charania. Despite their disappointing season and starting the offseason by trading away Desmond Bane, the Grizzlies appear intent on still building around Jackson and Ja Morant.
  • The Sacramento Kings have met with Russell Westbrook and Dennis Schröder and are hoping to sign both, per Chris Haynes. They’re in need of point guards after trading away De’Aaron Fox at the deadline.
  • The Utah Jazz have reached a buyout with guard Jordan Clarkson, per Tony Jones. He’s a high-scoring bench option for a lot of teams.
  • The NBA has announced that the salary cap for the upcoming season will be $154,647,000.
  • Former Warriors assistant coach Mike Brown has had a second interview with the New York Knicks for their vacant head coaching job, per Shams Charania. Brown, who has been a head coach on four different occasions (twice with the Cavaliers and once each with the Lakers and Kings) is viewed as one of the top candidates.
  • The Portland Trail Blazers and center Deandre Ayton have agreed on a buyout. Per Jake Fischer, Ayton will forfeit $10 million of the $35.6 million he was owed for the upcoming season. Chris Haynes reports that there’s a ‘strong possibility’ Ayton will end up on the Lakers.
  • Forward Nicolas Batum is re-signing with the LA Clippers for two years and $11.5 million, per Shams Charania. The contract will take him through his 19th NBA season.
  • Big man Day’Ron Sharpe is re-signing with the Brooklyn Nets for two years and $12 million, per Shams Charania. The Nets are the only team he’s ever played for.
  • Sharpshooter Joe Ingles is returning to the Minnesota Timberwolves for one year and $3.6 million, per Shams Charania.
  • Guard Collin Gillespie is re-signing with the Phoenix Suns, per Shams Charania. After spending last year on a two-way contract, Gillespie will get a guaranteed deal this season.
  • The Utah Jazz are waiving forward Johnny Juzang, per Shams Charania. Juzang had a solid season for Utah last year, in his third year in the league.
  • Forward Jabari Smith Jr. has agreed to a five-year, $122 million extension wit the Houston Rockets, per Shams Charania. It’s shaping up to be an incredible offseason for Houston.
  • Hall of Fame-bound guard James Harden is declining his player option so that he can sign a new deal with the LA Clippers for two years and $81.5 million, per Shams Charania. He’s coming off a stellar season.
  • Forward Bobby Portis is staying with the Milwaukee Bucks for three years and $44 million, per Shams Charania. Portis has spent the last five seasons with the Bucks.
  • Guard Ajay Mitchell, now a champion, is signing a new deal with the Oklahoma City Thunder for three years and $9 million, per Shams Charania.
  • Veteran guard Eric Gordon declined his player option with the 76ers and will enter free agency, per Shams Charania.
  • The 76ers declined their team option for wing Lonnie Walker IV, making him a free agent, per Shams Charania.
  • The Utah Jazz traded center Collin Sexton to the Charlotte Hornets in exchange for center Jusuf Nurkić, per Shams Charania.
  • Guard Duncan Robinson declined his $20 million option with the Miami Heat and will enter free agency, per Shams Charania. He becomes a very interesting name to hit the market.
  • After a wonderful season, power forward Julius Randle is returning to the Minnesota Timberwolves for three years and $100 million with a player option, per Shams Charania.
  • Former Warriors guard Kelly Oubre Jr. picked up his player option and will return to the Philadelphia 76ers for $8.4 million this season, per Shams Charania.
