Andrew Bogut on Draymond Green: ‘What makes him great is that he plays angry’

May 13, 2025 by Hoops Hype

Andrew Bogut on Draymond Green: Look, I’ve been Draymond’s teammate. What makes him great is that he plays angry. Sometimes he toes the line. Sometimes he crosses it. You’ve got the punch with Poole in practice, numerous kicks to the nuts—that kind of stuff. But that’s what makes him great.

Draymond has been pushing the ball up like it’s 2016 and it’s been really effective. One of the biggest declines in his game as he’s gotten older. – 11:26 PM

Draymond Green just went one by one to all three officials after that non-flagrant call on McDaniels. Not hard to guess his message. – 11:20 PM

Stunner. No flagrant awarded on that McDaniel foul.
Cue the “if that was Draymond” replies – 11:19 PM
Dane Moore @DaneMooreNBA
In Game 3, Draymond Green was guarding Julius Randle — and roaming off him to provide help. And Trayce Jackson-Davis was on Rudy Gobert.
Those matchups are flipped this game — with Green providing his help while roaming off of Gobert. – 10:31 PM

Heading into Game 4 Monday, Minnesota wants to win this West semifinals ASAP. Golden State wants it to linger until Steph Curry (maybe) returns.
Four things to watch, including Draymond Green getting back on the stage and Jaden McDaniels as the “X” factor. nba.com/news/timberwol… – 10:23 AM

The stringent way Draymond Green was officiated last night, fouling out, each close call in his disfavor, it’s clear the referees were whistling while they work to newly imposed league office orders… – 2:38 AM

More on this storyline

Andrew Bogut: Exactly. I don’t buy into the narrative of a PR push labeling him the “angry Black man.” He is angry. He plays with a chip on his shoulder. From the jump ball, he’s in your face. Might throw a cheap shot here and there, and if you don’t have that, you don’t have Draymond. That’s what made him so tough as a teammate. And yes, he’s admitted before—just a couple seasons ago, right Pro?—that he needs to control it better. He did offseason work on it. But you also can’t act like there’s no history of over-the-top angry stuff from him. -via YouTube / May 13, 2025
Andrew Bogut on Lakers free agency: Can Steven Adams start with his body over 82 games? I don’t know. That’s the issue. I think he’s definitely got some injury issues that are going to be long term. Clint Capela is a good one. He’s been relatively healthy for the most part of his career. Hasn’t had any really bad injuries. Real good lob threat. Great shot blocker. That’s definitely an option as well. -via YouTube / May 5, 2025
Andrew Bogut on Kings firing Mike Brown: ‘That is a prime opportunity for you as an ownership group, as the GM to say, ‘you know what? Look in the rearview mirror. Look at our last 20 odd years. We’ve been sh*t. We have a bit of success. Some of it’s because of the roster. Some of it’s because of our coach. We’re backing the coach.’ They should have done something like Miami does, right? ‘Sit down. Shut the f*ck up. This is our guy. You don’t want to be here? We’ll get you out of here.’ But at least they had something. Now Doug Christie wasn’t awful. Finished the season okay, but they finally had a coach that had something to him. Gone. Michael Malone. Similar story. Gone. -via YouTube / April 27, 2025
HoopsHype: Last night, Draymond Green finished with more turnovers than field goals made for the 43rd time in his playoff career. Nobody has done that more times than him. He’s tied at No. 1 with Kendrick Perkins. -via Bluesky / May 11, 2025
Jorge Sierra: Draymond Green passed Oscar Robertson, Dwight Howard and Maurice Cheeks in playoff scoring last night. He’s No. 75 all-time now. He also tied Kawhi Leonard in steals at No. 18. -via Twitter @hoopshype / May 11, 2025
