A look at the fan commentary from the game.
The Golden State Warriors saw their season come to an end on Wednesday night, when they lost 121-110 to the Minnesota Timberwolves in Game 5 of the Western Conference Semifinals. Without Steph Curry, the Warriors had little margin for error, and lost the series 4-1.
For the final time this season, here’s how the community reacted to the elimination loss, as seen through comments on the Golden State of Mind game thread.
First quarter: ‘Refs blind’
The Dubs showed lots of fight early, despite Jimmy Butler III having another passive night. Jonathan Kuminga was taking over early, but the Wolves ended the quarter strong. With questionable officiating defining the final minute of action, Minny led 30-23 after one.
Second quarter: ‘Getting ugly fast’
Steve Kerr had to mix things up, so Quinten Post and Pat Spencer started the second quarter. They could to within three points early, then Minnesota started piling in the shots, and making wild three-pointers. Golden State’s defense couldn’t keep up, and their offense went ice cold. The Wolves ended the half on a 17-5 run, and took a 62-47 lead into halftime.
Third quarter: ‘Such bad offense’
The Warriors showed lots of life in the third quarter, but couldn’t get close. They were fighting, but the Wolves simply had more talent. It was a 21-point deficit at the end of three, and the writing was on the wall.
Fourth quarter: ‘Pretty much impossible to beat’
The Warriors had one last push in them. Moses Moody started the fourth quarter, getting his first action of the game, and played with brilliant desperation. Brandin Podziemski was excellent in the frame. They had an early 8-0 run, and cut the lead to nine points at one point. But the Wolves always had an answer, and the Dubs just couldn’t quite get over the hump.
