If Wiggins can channel that game impact coming into 2025, the Warriors will be all the better for it!

Today I’ll be chronicling the best performances of the 2024 calendar year from our Golden State Warriors. Although the Dubs didn’t make the playoffs during the 2023-2024 season and have been pretty mid to finish the year, there have been plenty of fantastic individual performances to enjoy and give Dub Nation hope for the future.

One such performance came from Andrew Wiggins on November 20th, 2024 in a win against the Atlanta Hawks. Check out the vid!

The Book of Wiggs

Wiggins is the kind of player who makes coaches, teammates, and fans alike scratch their heads in amazement. His talent is so multifaceted that it often defies easy categorization. On one hand, he’s the quintessential modern wing: athletic, versatile, and smooth. On the other, he’s an enigma—a player whose brilliance can come in flashes but, when channeled properly, transforms into a steady force that can tilt the balance of a game. For the Golden State Warriors, the plan with Wiggins is clear but nuanced: unlock his potential as the perfect two-way complement to their already dynamic system.

Offensively, Wiggins is a weapon that thrives in the open floor. His long strides and explosive first step make him deadly in transition, where he can punish defenses before they even set up. But for Golden State, it’s his fit within their motion-heavy half-court offense that makes him invaluable. Playing alongside the gravity of Steph Curry, Wiggins has found himself the beneficiary of countless open looks and cutting lanes. The Warriors don’t need him to be a primary creator—they just want him to attack mismatches, finish with authority, and knock down catch-and-shoot threes at a respectable clip.

Defensively, Wiggins has undergone a transformation in Golden State. The talent was always there—his length, lateral quickness, and instincts screamed “elite defender.” But under Steve Kerr’s guidance, he’s developed into something more: a disciplined, lockdown presence capable of taking on the league’s toughest assignments. Whether it’s chasing wings like Jayson Tatum or contesting guards like Ja Morant, Wiggins has become a pillar of the Warriors’ defensive scheme. His rebounding, too, has grown into a critical asset, as he’s embraced crashing the boards with a hunger that wasn’t always evident earlier in his career.

Ultimately, the Warriors see Wiggins as the ultimate glue guy—a player who can fill gaps on both ends while rising to the occasion when the stakes are highest. His Game 5 masterpiece in the 2022 NBA Finals—a 26-point, 13-rebound showcase—is proof of what Golden State hopes to replicate in the future. For Wiggins, it’s all about consistency. For the Warriors, it’s about channeling his talent into winning basketball. Together, they’ve found a synergy that highlights his potential while feeding into the team’s championship DNA.
