Not great news.
The Golden State Warriors have had pretty good health so far this season, but were dealt a scare early during their Tuesday in-season tournament game against the Sacramento Kings, in a fast-growing rivalry of sorts. After the first quarter of the game, Chris Paul headed to the team’s locker room. Cory Joseph took his place to begin the second quarter, and Paul wasn’t seen from at all in the frame.
When the third quarter started, the team announced that Paul would not be returning. While the team did not reveal the severity of the ailment, they called it lower left leg soreness, which certainly suggests that it’s not a very serious injury.
Chris Paul (lower left leg soreness) will not return to tonight’s game.

Paul, a 19-year NBA veteran who is the third-oldest player in the NBA (behind only P.J. Tucker and his close friend LeBron James), has struggled with various injuries throughout his career. It was a concern for some Warriors fans when the team traded a young guard in Jordan Poole for Paul, but so far he’s been healthy during his short Warriors tenure.
Here’s hoping this is just a minor issue, and that Paul will be back on the court soon. If the Warriors don’t advance in the in-season tournament, CP3 will have a lot of time to heal up over the next week or so, though obviously they’re all hoping that’s not the case.
Golden State’s next game is Thursday, when they host the new-look Los Angeles Clippers for the first time this year.
