A look at the fan reaction to Saturday’s game.
The Golden State Warriors lost on Saturday night, falling 102-97 to the Minnesota Timberwolves. They now trail the Wolves 2-1 in their playoff series, and are in desperate need of a win on Monday. While it was a disappointing end result, the Warriors put up a strong effort in Steph Curry’s absence.
Here’s how Warriors fans reacted to the action, as seen through the Golden State of Mind game thread.
First quarter: ‘Way better start’
The Warriors looked good out of the gates, with better spacing and Jimmy Butler III looking to attack. After falling behind a bit early, they came roaring back behind Butler and Jonathan Kuminga, and tied the game 21-21 going into the second frame.
Second quarter: ‘Kuminga gets to the rim with ease’
After taking a lead early in the quarter, the Warriors fell behind by 10 points, before rattling off nine unanswered points. Kuminga was playing exceptionally well, as the Warriors took a lead late in the half, and led 42-40 at the break, despite having failed to make a single three.
Third quarter: ‘Playoff Jimmy!’
It was a very fun third quarter. Once again Kuminga and Butler were the heroes for the. Dubs, though this time they were joined by Buddy Hield, who came alive. The teams went back and forth, and the Warriors led 73-69 as we went to the final frame.
Fourth quarter: ‘What a train wreck’
But alas, they couldn’t hold the lead in the fourth. Anthony Edwards and Julius Randle went deep in their bags and pulled out the full array of star tricks. Combined with Draymond Green fouling out, the Warriors were unable to match a healthy Timberwolves team in the game’s critical moments.
