Golden State Warriors star Draymond Green defended himself against rumors suggesting he beats his wife and kids at home. The four-time NBA champion said a common misconception about his off-court personality is that he’s overly aggressive, with fans believing he is physical with his family.
On Friday’s installment of NBC Sports Bay Area’s “Dubs Talk” podcast (via NBA Central on X), Green strongly clapped back against that notion.
Green said that the lowest point of his career was last season when he was suspended 21 games in total after starring in physical altercations with centers Jusuf Nurkic and Rudy Gobert.

“I couldn’t play the game that I love,” Green said. “I couldn’t play the game the way that I love. And by the way, ‘He’s beating his wife at home. He’s beating his kids because look what he does on a basketball court.’ That’s crazy … to have to live through that. But then, for my family to also have to live through that, that was kind of rock bottom for me.”
Those situations only piled up on Green’s past violent incidents. Earlier in his career, he was deemed a dirty player after kicking Steven Adams between his legs and seemingly trying to hurt LeBron James in 2016.
His infamous incident with former teammate Jordan Poole ahead of the 2022-23 season changed the team’s dynamic and ruined his relationship with Poole. During the 2023 playoffs, he stomped on Sacramento Kings’ big Domantas Sabonis to add more to the list.
Green sought help after his two suspensions last season, which seems to be working, although his competitive spirit hasn’t faded.
