Rounding up all Warriors and NBA related news for Friday, May 30th.

In today’s Dub Hub:

  • ESPN NBA insider Shams Charania predicts the 2025 offseason will be the “craziest” offseason ever.
  • Former Warrior Klay Thompson’s beloved dog, Rocco, passed away at 13 years old.
  • Knicks force Game 6 after beating the Pacers on Thursday night, 111-94.

The NBA offseason hasn’t officially begun, but anticipation is already at a fever pitch. According to ESPN’s NBA insider Shams Charania, league executives are bracing for one of the “craziest” summers in recent memory.

Shams is predicting that this offseason might be the craziest in NBA history

“This is the most I think anticipation team executives have had over an offseason…I think this offseason might be the most craziest ever.”

That prediction lines up with what the Golden State Warriors are facing this offseason. A potential Jonathan Kuminga sign-and-trade remains one of the league’s more intriguing storylines as the front office looks to reshape the roster around Stephen Curry, Jimmy Butler, and Draymond Green.

With stars like the Milwaukee Bucks’ Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Phoenix Suns’ Kevin Durant potentially on the move—and league-wide parity pushing teams into win-now decisions—the stage is set for chaos. From blockbuster trades to the unpredictability of the NBA Draft and surprise free-agent signings, this summer could dramatically reshape the league’s landscape.

NBA Mock Draft 3.0: Top prospects returned to college, but plenty of talent remains. Here’s our latest look at every pick | Yahoo Sports

41. Warriors: Chaz Lanier, G, Tennessee

The Warriors need more shooting, which explains everything about this pick. Lanier transferred to Tennessee after four years at North Florida and immediately thrived as a knockdown shooter with shot-making creativity. But without great size or playmaking at his age, he’s a second-round prospect.

Why Draymond doesn’t view Giannis as greatest modern power forward | NBC Sports Bay Area

“The team that you build around Giannis because his skillset is so great driving and getting downhill, that you put a lot of shooting around him,” Green told Davis. “So then when people look at the game, they’re like, ‘Oh, well Jrue Holiday must be this position, and Chris Middleton must be this position, and Brooke Lopez is the five,’ ok great, so Giannis is a power forward.

“But if you look at the great power forwards. Giannis doesn’t play like Tim Duncan; Giannis doesn’t play like Kevin Garnett. So, I think people are being lazy and don’t understand what they’re looking at, and so they pigeonhole him into the power forward position. And I just don’t think that’s very accurate.”

Rocco Thompson, beloved dog of ex-Warriors star Klay, dies at 13 | NBC Sports Bay Area

Former Warriors guard Klay Thompson’s beloved dog, Rocco, has passed away, Mychal Thompson revealed Wednesday on an ESPN Los Angeles sports radio show.

“As Mase and Ireland always say, when someone dear has departed, ‘Hail fellow well met,’ “ Mychal said on “Mason & Ireland.” “We had to put Rocco, Klay’s dog, down over the weekend.”

Mychal shared that Rocco was put down Saturday: “It was time.”

The English bulldog was 13.

NBA News:

Pacers denied in 1st chance to reach NBA Finals for 2nd time in franchise history | NBA

With a passive performance from their playmaker, the Indiana Pacers failed in their first attempt to earn the second NBA Finals trip in franchise history, falling 111-94 to the New York Knicks in Game 5 on Thursday night.

They will need Haliburton to be much closer to the player who dominated Game 4 than the one who managed only two baskets in Game 5 when they try again at home Saturday.

“Rough night for me,” Haliburton said.

The Thrill of Watching the Thunder Grow Up | The Ringer

It’s remarkable that OKC is in this position less than a decade later. To have built two completely separate A-level contenders over this span is not normal, especially when the best player from the OG group leaves in free agency and you get nothing for him in return. There were periods of varying promise during the between years. The Paul George interlude, the one-season stints from Melo and Chris Paul. Then the really lean post-bubble years when you were trying to sustain yourself via Charlie Brown Jr. jumpers and Gabriel Deck drives. You have your tank goggles on and start saying silly things. Can Moses Brown be a quality backup 5? I would die for Hamidou Diallo. Darius Bazley’s figuring it out, a new cornerstone. Fandom is a disease.

Pelicans reportedly have ‘no untouchables’ on their roster, according to Yahoo Sports’ Kevin O’Connor

In case you missed it at Golden State of Mind:

Janelle Salaün can’t quite carry Valkyries past Breanna Stewart, Liberty in 82-77 loss

It’s a credit to Nakase and general manager Ohemaa Nyanin that the Valkyries have already built a squad that was ready for a rematch against the defending champs two nights after a blowout loss.

Still, the energy around the team was clear following the game. It’s too early in the season for moral victories. The Valkyries will now return home and have a couple of days off before they host the Minnesota Lynx on Sunday at the Chase Center.
