Dub Hub: Steph Curry remains confident in Warriors’ front office despite slow offseason

Rounding up all Warriors and NBA related news for Tuesday, July 15th.

In today’s Dub Hub:

  • Steph Curry says he still has “a lot of confidence” in the Warriors’ front office despite a slow start to the offseason.
  • Moses Moody joins the Players Association’s Foundation Board of Directors.
  • Spurs’ Victor Wembanyama cleared to return from blood clots, according to ESPN.

While questions continue to swirl around the Golden State Warriors’ lack of activity this offseason, Stephen Curry isn’t letting outside narratives shake his belief in the organization.

In a recent interview with NBC Sports Bay Area’s Monte Poole, Curry offered a calm reminder that the external noise doesn’t always reflect what’s happening behind the scenes.

Via NBC Sports Bay Area:

“The narrative outside versus the narrative inside might not always be the same,” Curry told Poole. “We talk. We have communication. I know what’s going on to the point where I have a lot of confidence in our ability to put together a winning team next year. That’s all I want.”

Curry’s vote of confidence comes amid an offseason currently stuck in limbo as the Warriors await a resolution to Jonathan Kuminga’s restricted free agency. Several potential moves — including rumored signings of veterans Al Horford and De’Anthony Melton — appear to be on hold, with doubts continuing to grow the longer the wait drags on.

Still, the two-time MVP continues to trust the process — and the people responsible for shaping the roster.

“My role at Davidson is a little different than me walking upstairs trying to do the GM’s job,” Curry joked with Poole. “But we have a great chain of communication. It’s not like I’m trying to overstep. This is what they do. This is what their job is. We all have a job to do for us to win and every year it presents new challenges. You got to solve that puzzle.

Steph Curry not worried about outside noise, focused on Warriors internal narratives | NBC Sports BA

B/R’s Top 100 NBA Players of All Time, Ranked | Bleacher Report

10. Stephen Curry

No active—or recently active—player has reshaped the game more than Stephen Curry. That includes greatest-of-all-time candidate LeBron James.

Billed for so long as the best shooter in league history, Curry has proved to be so much more. He isn’t the first NBA player with the gravity to suck in entire defenses, but he is the first to leverage that pull in so many different, exhaustive ways. His teams are better by virtue of him existing.

The accolades speak for themselves. The circumstances under which they’ve come are less vociferous. The Golden State Warriors have been fortunate enough to field numerous generational iterations, but none of them peak or even exist without Steph. His ability to play alongside anyone is scalability beyond measure. Qualitatively and stylistically, he is one-of-one.

ESPN’s Marc Spears says Warriors ‘expected’ Al Horford to sign with them last week

“Golden State expected him to sign last week, he didn’t. Lakers, Milwaukee, Atlanta I believe are also interested.”

Alex Toohey’s potential evident in three straight NBA Summer League possessions | NBC Sports Bay Area

“He just seemed a little bit more at ease,” coach Lainn Wilson said to reporters after the win. “I think the first two games were just a little fast. Again, he’s taken time to adapt to things and I thought today he really found his footing.

“Kind of was processing things, seeing things in real time. He hit a big three there in the second half. Overall, I just thought he was finding his footing, which was positive.”

NBA News:

Spurs’ Victor Wembanyama cleared to return from blood clot | ESPN

Victor Wembanyama announced he has recovered from the deep vein right thrombosis in his right shoulder that limited him to just 46 games last season, telling French newspaper L’Équipe, “I’m officially cleared to return.”

A league source confirmed the team has cleared Wembanyama.

“It just happened,” Wembanyama told L’Équipe. “I got the green light from the Spurs’ medical staff just [on Friday]. Phew, I’ll finally be able to play a bit of basketball again.”

Why Blazers’ Yang Hansen, aka ‘Chinese Jokić,’ is already looking like the hidden gem of the 2025 NBA Draft | CBS Sports

“I think in these playoffs, one thing I’ve really noticed is the way these successful teams think the game,” Cronin said just days after the Oklahoma City Thunder won the championship. “Their basketball IQ, their skill sets, their ability to make others and each other better is a critical component to winning these games. And that’s what Yang brings to this. His basketball IQ is very, very high and he makes others better. That’s what we’re trying to do here is find guys that help supplement and build each other up and it’s something that he thrives at.”

Warriors land in ‘Group of Death’ for upcoming NBA In-Season Tournament

The Golden State Warriors will sign a free agent at some point this summer with hopes of building a championship roster. While the Dubs are eyeing a trip to the NBA Finals, their players surely wouldn’t mind an in-season tournament victory (and the significant bonus checks attached). However, the NBA released the schedule for the group stages of the NBA Cup, and the Warriors landed one of the most difficult draws. Golden State will be squaring up against the Houston Rockets, Denver Nuggets, San Antonio Spurs, and Portland Trail Blazers in the group stage.
