Dwyane Wade Makes Feelings Clear on Jimmy Butler’s Move to Golden State

The Least Deserving MVPs Of All Time (2:49)

Former Jimmy Butler’s teammate Dwyane Wade expressed happiness over the swingman’s new chapter with the Golden State Warriors. After joining the Miami Heat in the 2019 offseason, Butler requested a trade away from the Floridians due to the lack of help he received from the front office.

During Friday’s episode of Carmelo Anthony’s “7PM in Brooklyn” show, Wade discussed this move. Firstly, he said Butler and the Warriors are in the honeymoon phase but noted that playing alongside a shooter in Stephen Curry will make Butler shine.

Wade praised Jimmy Butler for joining a competitive team to end his career.

“If he stays in Miami, he has to be the star. He goes to Golden State, he does not have to be the star,” Wade said. “Shout out to Jimmy Butler for putting himself in a position that he can end his career the way he wanted to, and he got himself out of a situation where a lot would’ve been on him.”

Wade, the greatest Miami Heat player in history, added that under the circumstances he had to deal with in South Beach, Butler would have to go out of his way and play at a superlative level to lead the Heat to a deep playoff run and secure a massive extension.

With the Warriors, he doesn’t have to be the No. 1 option every night and can help the team by doing more than just scoring. Butler led the Warriors to a 104-93 win over the Milwaukee Bucks on Tuesday, posting a 24-point, 10-assist double-double on the second night of a back-to-back.
