Klay Thompson is set to be an unrestricted free agent this summer, with lots of questions about his NBA future.
Thompson posted the second-worst shooting percentage (43.2%) and worst three-point percentage (38.7%) of his career this season, closing the campaign out with a scoreless night on 0-of-10 shooting in the Golden State Warriors’ Play-In loss to the Sacramento Kings on Tuesday.
After the game, Warriors head coach Steve Kerr made it clear he wants Thompson back, saying the team “needs” him and “desperately” wants him to return.
Steve Kerr: “We need Klay back…He still has good years left…We desperately want him back.”

Fans are more skeptical.
“Damn f—–g straight,” said a Warriors fan who agreed with Kerr.
“If we get him back, he needs to be making less than Caitlin Clark after putting up those terrible numbers last night,” said another Warriors fan.
“For the vet minimum and a reduced role, then sure. Love Klay, but age and injuries have officially caught up to him,” a third Golden State fan added.
“Intangibles intangibles. That’s great, can he make shots in playoff games?” said a fourth fan.
“They are running this core ’til the wheels fall off,” a fifth person said.
“The team cannot look the same next year,” another fan chimed in.
Major changes could be in store for the Warriors following a season in which they didn’t even reach the Western Conference Playoffs.
We’ll have to see if Thompson is one of those changes.
