The Golden State Warriors continue their first-round playoff series against the Houston Rockets with Game 2 on Wednesday night. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:30 PM PT in Houston and can be watched on TNT and NBC Sports Bay Area.
Previously with the Warriors:
Golden State took care of business in the series opener, defeating Houston 95-85 behind a vintage postseason performance from Stephen Curry. All the pregame talk centered on how well the Rockets defended the two-time MVP in their final regular season matchup — however, Curry quickly put that narrative to rest with a game-high 31 points on 12-of-19 shooting from the field. The Warriors’ superstar was in full playoff mode showing absolutely no regard for the Rockets’ defense or the insane difficulty of his shot selection.

Jimmy Butler added 25 points of his own, continuing to embrace his “Playoff Jimmy” persona—now in a Warriors jersey. The veteran duo’s leadership and composure were the difference in a physical, grind-it-out Game 1.
Steve Kerr said he thought he made a “mistake” leaving Jimmy Butler in too long in the third quarter of Game 1. But he says he’s comfortable playing Butler “40 to 42” minutes nightly in playoffs. pic.twitter.com/X55IPglDjm

What to watch for tonight:
For Game 2, expect Houston to come out with more urgency and more efficient shooting. In Game 1, the Rockets struggled to find rhythm offensively, especially from deep as they shot just 6-of-29 from beyond the arc.
Their poor shooting created more opportunities for rebounds in which the Rockets dominated the Warriors, specifically on the offensive glass which they won 22-6.
Physical defense and rebounding prowess remain Houston’s strengths, and they’ll lean heavily on those traits to even the series.
“I don’t expect massive changes from Ime [Udoka]. They know who they are…We know they’re going to be physical, they’re going to defend, and they’re going to rebound. I don’t think too much will change from that philosophy.”

Meanwhile, for the Warriors, the formula remains the same — let the stars lead and count on the supporting cast to make timely plays. In Game 1, Brandin Podziemski and Moses Moody stepped up with clutch shots when the defense collapsed on Curry and Butler. The Warriors created open looks all night — and hitting them again could be the key to extending their series lead.

With a 1-0 advantage and home court already flipped, the Warriors have a golden opportunity to take control of the series. A Game 2 win would send them back to the Bay with a commanding 2-0 lead — a position where they’ve historically thrived in during this time of the year.
