Golden State basketball is on the way! Come join our game thread and chat about tonight’s matchup here.

The Golden State Warriors close the month of January with Friday night’s home matchup against the Phoenix Suns. The game will be played at 7:00 PM PT in San Francisco and can be watched on ESPN and NBC Sports Bay Area.

Previously with the Warriors:

Golden State earned one of their biggest victories of the season on Wednesday, defeating the Oklahoma City Thunder 116-109. After trailing by 10 points at halftime, the Warriors mounted a comeback, tying the game at 84 apiece by the end of the third quarter.

Steph Curry and Andrew Wiggins led the charge in the clutch, finishing the night with 21 and 27 points, respectively. Curry, in particular, hit several crucial long-range shots in the fourth to keep the offense rolling.

Despite a stellar 52-point performance from Thunder superstar Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, the Warriors were still able seal the win late in the game. With just over a minute left and the Warriors up by seven, Gary Payton II delivered a thunderous dunk over Isaiah Hartenstein, sending the Chase Center into a frenzy as he effectively put the game out of reach.

What to watch for tonight:

The Warriors are back at the Chase Center on Friday, hosting former Warrior Kevin Durant and the Suns. Phoenix leads Golden State by half a game in the standings, and the two teams have split their season series 1-1.

In their most recent matchup in late December, the Warriors came out on top with a 109-105 victory, highlighted by a career-high 34 points from Jonathan Kuminga — who will miss tonight’s game as he continues to rehab from an ankle injury.

As the Suns feature a potent offense led by Durant (27.3 PPG) and Devin Booker (25.5 PPG), the Warriors will look to Curry (22.3 PPG) to help neutralize some of their scoring. However, he alone won’t be enough as Golden State will need additional contributions from the team if they hope to extend their two-game winning streak and stay above .500.
