‘If Butler is really injured, we are done’ — GSoM reacts to Game 2 loss

A live look at the fan reaction to Game 2.

Wednesday was brutal for the Golden State Warriors. They lost to the Houston Rockets in Game 2 of their playoff series by a score of 109-94. They lost Jimmy Butler III to an injury. It was about as bad of a day as could be imagined, yet the Warriors are still tied in the series, going home, and with home court advantage. It could be worse!

Let’s see how Dub Nation reacted to the game in real time, by looking through the Golden State of Mind game thread.

First quarter: ‘I hope Jimmy is OK’

The Rockets made a statement early, jumping out to a 7-1 lead, and having an 18-10 advantage at halftime. Then came the big moment: Butler got accidentally undercut by Amen Thompson and fell on his tailbone. He left the court gingerly, and the Warriors trailed 28-18 at the end of the quarter.

Cosmo4gsw
I guarantee either the Warriors win …or the refs win.

Hamster Ball
Please. No more 3’s Dray.

ZooMass
Hitting these wide open shots is a plus

Shooter13
Steph is just coasting so far tonight

Blackmyers
Refs are…making some bad calls

ZooMass
Dude Sengun was MUGGING Steph on the perimeter on that last play

KLAYtheist
Damn I hope Jimmy is ok

Kezar Days
Rockets are getting dirty.

m.arkal
Butler injured. Half a Podziemski. Curry and Green on the bench. Nobody on the floor who can reliably score. Yep. Kerr has to reluctantly put Kuminga in.

SantaCruz351
OK JK here’s your opportunity.

Second quarter: ‘Pat Spencer Era has started’

With Pat Spencer (who balled out!) and Jonathan Kuminga starting the second quarter, the Warriors found themselves down 20 in no time at all. Meanwhile, Butler was officially ruled out, while Brandin Podziemski was ruled as questionable with an illness. Steph Curry and Draymond Green were getting in Houston’s head and under their skin, but the Rockets still led 60-46 at halftime as the game got very chippy.

Mood_Indigo
Go for it, JK!

KLAYtheist
Running out the garbage time Warriors
Should be interesting

m.arkal
Officials are close to losing control of this game.

EastBayHoops
Don’t let Sengun get this much room to operate. Muck it up, get him to think twice. C’mon dudes!!

Kezar Days
4th shit pass from Dray now.

SantaCruz351
Spencer strikes again!

Dritzz
The Pat Spencer Era has started.

ZooMass
Rough watch. 14 points is still within striking distance. This ain’t over.

GoldenYear2015
It’s so hard to watch. Rocket’s defense is not basketball defense.

Third quarter: ‘They deserve to be losing’

Quinten Post and Gary Payton II were inserted into the starting lineup to start the half, though Podziemski did return halfway through. The Warriors made a spirited run and started to get back in the game, but Houston responded emphatically, and took an 87-71 lead into the fourth quarter.

Tom Ryugo
26-12 rebounds favor Rockets.

ZooMass
They’re like one good stretch from being in this. Need some of these young guys to actually get physical.

Tom Ryugo
Post can’t play defense worth a damn against the Rockets.

Casualfansincecovid
Commend Podz for coming back in but his shot ain’t there

Emmerichk
Horrible game, Steph turnovers, Butler injured, JK is not playable anymore, refs..

edhardyevents
So Jalen Green is awake

Kezar Days
They deserve to be losing. Awful passing all night long. No energy.

Fourth quarter: ‘This has Udoka written all over it’

The Rockets quickly pushed the lead back to 20 points, and the game got chippy, emotional, and intense. There were elbows and towels thrown, words and gestures exchanged, and fouls both technical and flagrant. The Warriors did make a push again, but couldn’t get the game close enough to really get into it.

EastBayHoops
What a great way to start the 4th. *facepalm*

EastBayHoops
JK can’t get anything going. :

#30
Our entire team have zero energy…

AsFan79
Rockets are straight DIRTY

#30
THE LEAD SHRINKS TO 12! QP IS GOING TO SAVE US ,HELL YEAHHHHHH

BaseballShogun
Wow , Rockets doing dumb ish.

Art632
This has udoka written all over it. The physicality favorites the rockets all the way, especially getting draymond fired up, they know what they are doing. Just sucks we lost Jimmy today, hope he’s good for Saturday we get payback.

King4307
We are getting out toughed right now. Is it because Jimmy is out? Idk…… but one thing I do know is moody gp2 and looney have to play way tougher!

Emmerichk
Well.. if Butler is really injured, we are done
🙁

peter frampton
