January 26, 2025 by Hoops Hype

Ohm Youngmisuk: Today marks 3 weeks since Jonathan Kuminga sprained his ankle. Steve Kerr says Kuminga isn’t close to returning. He hasn’t done anything on court besides stationary shooting. The other day, Kuminga did some stationary shooting on court but not in basketball shoes with ankle taped

More on this storyline

Anthony Slater: Mentioned within the podcast: Jonathan Kuminga remains weeks away from a return. Ankle still wrapped and he hasn’t advanced to any real court work. This was a bad sprain. Could be talking post All-Star break. He’s been around and in positive spirits. -via Twitter @anthonyVslater / January 24, 2025
Kerr said after the game that he plans to give Post more minutes in the coming games. Draymond Green and Jonathan Kuminga are out for the foreseeable future. Kevon Looney left Wednesday night’s game with an illness. Kyle Anderson is nearing a return from a recent injury, but the depleted nature of the frontcourt means a more extended opportunity for Post. “He changes the look out there,” Kerr said. “He can hit a 3. He can pass. You saw him battling Sabonis. It’s a different look and I’d like to give him some time.” -via New York Times / January 23, 2025
Still, the exec, along with another Western Conference rival front office member, said the Warriors have indicated that if they make any moves, it will likely be closer to the trade deadline. Golden State’s trade options include Andrew Wiggins’ $26 million contract, along with younger prospects such as Kuminga, Podziemski and Moses Moody. The expiring contracts of Gary Payton II, Kevon Looney, plus three first-round picks and two second-round picks are also available to deal. -via ESPN / January 20, 2025
