The former Warrior shows appreciation to the surgeon who repaired his Achilles tendon in 2020
After playing versus the Warriors on February 23rd, former Warrior and current Dallas Maverick Klay Thompson gave a special gift to the surgeon who repaired his torn Achilles tendon in November of 2020 — a 2022 Championship ring.
A special moment for Klay Thompson after tonight’s game: He gave a 2022 Warriors championship ring to the legendary Dr. Richard Ferkel, who repaired Klay’s Achilles in Nov. 2020.

“Without you, I would not have been the second leading scorer on a championship team,” Thompson told Dr. Richard Ferkel, in a video posted to Twitter (X) by Sam Amick.
“I can’t thank you enough,” Ferkel replied.
“I can’t thank you enough,” Thompson said. “Are you kidding me?”
Klay Thompson missed the entire 2019-20 and 2020-21 seasons with a torn ACL and a torn Achilles. After returning in January of 2022, Thompson went on to average 17 points in the Finals, and win his fourth ring while he was at it. Thompson scored 102 points in the 2022 Finals, putting him right behind longtime teammate and fellow Splash Brother Steph Curry, who had 187 total points throughout the six-game series versus the Boston Celtics.
Dr. Ferkel is a legend among Warriors players, as he also notably repaired Steph Curry’s ankle after an injury in 2012.
