Golden State Warriors star Steph Curry didn’t want to wait until November to announce who he’ll be voting for in the upcoming election.
During an appearance on CNBC, Curry revealed that he’s endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris. He believes she’ll be a “great leader” if elected president.
Additionally, Curry said Harris knows what it means to be a “decent human being.” It’s possible that was a shot at Donald Trump.
“Endorsing Kamala Harris is important for me and my family,” Curry said. “Knowing Kamala and having been around her, I understand she’s qualified for this job. I think she’s representing what it means to be a great leader and being a decent human being in terms of representing our country the right way, so it’s an easy choice for me.”
Curry’s decision to publicly endorse Harris as generated some strong reactions on social media. People on both sides of the political spectrum weighed in with their thoughts.
“A man who puts a ball in a hoop for a living supports Kamala. Oh, I better change my whole thought pattern,” one person sarcastically said.
Another person replied, “Is this the same Steph Curry who tried to get an injunction against a developer building a low-income housing project near his multimillion dollar home in the Bay Area?”
“I was always on the correct side about Steph Curry,” a third person tweeted.
“Easy choice for the chef,” another social media user added.
This is the second time in the past month that Curry has shown support for Harris. He endorsed her during an appearance at the Democratic National Convention.
“Vice President Harris is primed to bring her energy to this campaign and hopefully she’s on the ticket winning the election but it’s a big deal to say the least,” Curry said, per ESPN. “She represents the Bay Area. She’s been a big supporter of us, so, I want to give that energy right back to her.”
The presidential election will take place on November 5. There’s a debate between Harris and Trump scheduled for September 10.
