Will the Warriors bounce back from their loss to Orlando?
The Golden State Warriors are keeping the party rolling in the Las Vegas Summer League as they take on the Toronto Raptors today. Don’t we still owe them some payback for the 2019 Finals??
#DubNation, we’ve got a game today.

The Dubs are coming off an entertaining but doomed effort against the Orlando Magic, losing 91-89 in overtime. Golden State’s two 2021 lottery picks Jonathan Kuminga and Moses Moody showed flashes of brilliance in the defeat, scoring 16 points and 15 points respectively.

And there were some other bright spots as well for the Warriors:
- Gary Payton II, son of the Oakland legend, showed off his explosive athleticism with 11 points and 8 rebounds. He also had 5 turnovers, something I’m sure he’ll want to clean up this evening.
- Jaquori McLaughlin turned some heads with his 3-of-4 shooting from beyond the arc along with 4 assists in 21 minutes. He’s a guy Warriors fans should keep an eye on.
- Kyle Guy tallied 15 points and 3 assists in 17 minutes and has our very own Brady Klopfer wondering if there’s a way he could scrap his way into a contract with the Warriors this season.
Kyle Guy and a Warriors two-way contract feels like a match made in heaven. Dubs love their two-way players to be dudes who can step in and contribute if needed, but also have some untapped potential. https://t.co/15gS7TVMCn

The Raptors are coming off an 89-79 victory over the New York Knicks summer squad. Their roster features fascinating prospects like the 2021 #4 pick Scottie Barnes and the 2020 #29 pick Malachi Flynn. Barnes had a double-double against the Knicks while Flynn led Toronto in scoring with 23 points (with 4-of-5 shooting from deep).
Here’s our blog buddy Raptors HQ on Barnes’ first game with the team:
The rookie definitely showed flashes of why the Raptors chose him with the fourth overall pick. Scottie Barnes was jumping for offensive rebounds, disrupting passing lanes and finding teammates — all the things we were told he could do.
The shooting, as expected, is a work in progress, but the confidence Barnes showed in getting up 18 shots is a positive too. He finished with 18 points, 10 boards and five assists.

This should be a fun clash between two squads with budding NBA prospects and a lotta pride. Toronto has a strong reputation for developing prospects; thankfully the Dubs lured away a major component of their development prowess by acquiring former Raptors assistant Jama Mahlalela.
I’m especially looking forward to the two highly touted prospects Kuminga and Barnes crossing paths; it’s going to be like the summer league version of Kong vs Godzilla.
