Both the Philadelphia 76ers and Ben Simmons seem interested in a breakup this offseason. Sixers general manager Daryl Morey won’t just give away the young three-time All-Star.
One of the teams most commonly connected in Simmons trade talks: the Golden State Warriors. Indications are that the Dubs want to be aggressive in getting back to championship contention, though some think Simmons would be fairly redundant with Draymond Green, while Stephen Curry is already locked in at point guard.
That being said, if Bob Myers could add a talent like Simmons for a relatively low price, he’d have to consider. One offer that Morey made to him ahead of the 2021 NBA Draft didn’t quite fit the bill.
“The Warriors were among the teams Daryl Morey called during his initial round of over-the-top inquiries,” Anthony Slater of The Athletic reports. “That came before the draft. As has been reported, he asked for a package of Andrew Wiggins, James Wiseman, the seventh and 14th picks and two future first-rounders. There was never bargaining. There was only a decline and a hang up.”
Ben Simmons trade talks between the Sixers and Warriors have never even really been alive, multiple sources tell @anthonyVslater.
“There isn’t — and has never been — a realistic offer on the table for Golden State to discuss.”

If Ben Simmons was coming off of an impressive playoff run, where it looked like he had opened up some parts of his offensive game, maybe you could justify giving up four first-rounders and two top-two picks. Of course, the opposite is true.
Simmons wilted as the Philadelphia 76ers were upset by the Atlanta Hawks in the Eastern Conference semifinals. He averaged just 11.9 points per game in the 2021 postseason, shooting a miserable 34.2-percent from the free-throw line, which became a major issue down the stretch.
With those two draft picks this year, the Warriors drafted rangy G-League prospect Jonathan Kuminga and Arkansas wing Moses Moody.
