May 14, 2025 by Hoops Hype

Anthony Slater: Steve Kerr called Jimmy Butler’s illness yesterday “definitely impactful.” He went from 26 shots in G3 to nine in G4. Kerr: “But he’s feeling better and he’ll be ready to go tomorrow.” Steph Curry remains out but did make the trip with the team.

I remember when the Golden State Warriors crushed teams in the third quarter in the playoffs
Well
That was the worst playoff third quarter at home in Warriors history
And the only third quarter worse overall in Steve Kerr era

I hope Kuminga get the hell away from Steve Kerr. He’s not the Coach for this young talented and Athletic young Star. He really need an opportunity to spread his wings. Kerr really had this man outta of the rotation. – 12:21 AM

Jimmy Butler devised the necessary strategy for this series. It’s likely the Warriors’ best hope in Game 4

Steve Kerr said Warriors will continue to balance need to have Jimmy Butler out there basically every minute while trying to spot him necessary rest. Butler played 43 in Game 3 and Kerr said he’s antsy every second he’s on bench: “He wants 48.” – 4:21 PM

Asked what must happen in Game 4 to even series, Steve Kerr says not a ton more. He liked defense and Jimmy and Kuminga together. He felt few possessions went against them. He liked to find more offense. Just couldn’t close it out. “I like where we were. The formula looked good.” – 11:42 PM
Law Murray @LawMurrayTheNU
Jimmy Butler III looked 35 years old in that 4th quarter (1/7 FGs, none inside the arc, no assists, turnover) – 11:22 PM

Six Warriors 3s in the third quarter after zero in the first half. Three from Buddy Hield. Two left corner ones late from Jimmy Butler and Jonathan Kuminga. Those two have combined for 48 of GSW’s 73 points. – 10:37 PM

More on this storyline

Anthony Slater: Steve Kerr on Jimmy Butler (nine shots tonight): “He wasn’t as aggressive tonight but I didn’t see a lot of openings.” Lack of shooting/spacing around Butler and available to Kerr was a repeat postgame talking point pic.x.com/59iUU7bCXu -via Twitter @anthonyVslater / May 13, 2025
Kerith Burke: Draymond gave some behind-the scenes-info postgame. On Jimmy: “I know he’s not feeling well. Been pretty crappy all day.” On Steph: “He’s working his tail off every day. He’s in here eight, nine hours a day, working, doing what he can to try to get back.” -via Bluesky / May 13, 2025
FOS: When you got the first Luka Doncic trade tip, I’m sure it was from someone very reliable, but did you think you were being catfished? Like their phone was hacked, or you were being had? Shams Charania: That would be the first instinct, that there’s no way this is true, but the way I heard it was not that Luka Dončić had been traded for Anthony Davis. It was really a process throughout the week. The deal happened late Saturday night. Wednesday, I’d gotten word that the Lakers and Mavs were discussing a trade that was going to send a Mavs player—who was not in the final deal, and I’m not going to name him—to the Lakers. I dug on it and got complete denials. I carried on with my business. There were other league things to monitor. Jimmy Butler and De’Aaron Fox were on the trade block. There’s always other moves you don’t know about that are coming. -via Dallas Morning News / May 12, 2025
