However, he is reportedly close to a return. With the 2021-22 NBA season looming, Warriors general manager Bob Myers spoke with reporters at the team’s media day on Monday afternoon.
During that conversation, reporters asked when Thompson might make it back on the floor. According to NBA insider Marc Stein, Myers said Thompson could be back by January.
“At Warriors Media Day, GM Bob Myers says it will be a ‘patient ramp-up’ for Klay Thompson after two major injuries and cites ‘maybe January’ when discussing Thompson’s possible return date,” Stein said.

Klay Thompson suffered a torn ACL in his left knee during the 2019 NBA Finals – and injury that derailed the Warriors title hopes. The injury also cost him the 2019-20 season, but he was gearing up to return in 2020-21.
Unfortunately, an Achilles tendon injury Thompson suffered in a pickup game ended his hopes of playing this past year.
While fans have been sad not to see the Splash Brothers on the court over the past two years, it sounds like Steph Curry and Klay Thompson will be back together soon.
