Jonathan Kuminga and Malik Monk could be on the move soon. The Warriors, Kings and Detroit Pistons are discussing a three-team blockbuster that would send Kuminga and veteran point guard Dennis Schröder to Sacramento in separate sign-and-trade deals, a source told NBC Sports California. The trade discussions remain fluid.

There’s nothing near the finish line on the Jonathan Kuminga front as the third night of free agency wraps, per sources. Conversations ongoing with Warriors and several teams on periphery. Warriors also waiting on Al Horford decision. – 12:11 AM

I’ll tell you this, Sacramento Kings GM Scott Perry isn’t going to be pushed around.
He’s negotiated bigger deals in the past (see his New York Knicks work). And he’s putting pressure on the Warriors, who are in a tough spot with Kuminga. – 12:01 AM

Side note:
Disregard anything you are seeing about Keegan Murray being part of a Kuminga deal.
Sacramento is going to be on the hook for whatever contract Kuminga signs. Why in the world would they give the Warriors a core piece for the right to pay Kuminga?
Silly talk. – 11:14 PM

Sacramento Kings backcourt currently:
PG – Schroder/Carter?
SG – LaVine/Monk/Keon/Clifford/Davis
Perry bringing this into next season would be borderline malpractice. So who do you move?
Trading DeMar doesn’t change this at all. – 2:12 PM

With regard to other stuff out there, Heat has not been pursuing trade for DeRozan to this point…. Kuminga would love a Heat pursuit but Miami has declined to pursue to this point. – 12:22 PM

Ending my night with a final thought:
Reporting/sharing information and potential Kings perspectives is very different from agreeing with or supporting that info/perspective.
I understand any Kings fan who dislikes the idea of trading Malik Monk in this sign-and-trade.

Kings fans really are having a hard time grasping how bad Malik Monk’s trade market is.
I don’t really blame them. It surprises me too. But it’s bad. – 12:24 AM

If I were Indiana, I’d just run it back.
A thought that occurs to me if they’re hesitant to pay Myles Turner for any reason: double sign-and-trade with Golden State for Kuminga+picks, then sign Ayton like they tried to in 2022.
Would have to shed other money to make this work. – 11:35 PM

An emerging option for the Pistons, sources say, is Detroit trading for Kings guard Malik Monk. Sounds like there’s a chance this deal, if agreed to, could turn into a sign-and-trade that brings Dennis Schroder to Sacramento. – 10:51 PM

Bruce Brown, Ty Jerome, D’Angelo Russell among better wings off the board on first hour. Heat can spend 14.4 M mid level if it’s in the mood to. Meanwhile, Warriors optimistic they’re keeping Kuminga, per Marc Spears – 7:19 PM

I recommend Warriors fans revisit this mock offseason @SamQuinnCBS and I did before free agency officially begins.
We show how a Jonathan Kuminga sign and trade would work, how BYC factors in, and examples of trades that could bring in multiple players.

Wrote about Horford to GSW earlier today. It’s going to be a tight squeeze under the 2nd apron if they keep Kuminga, but they can do it. They have a short window to win with Curry, Butler, Green so not surprised to see those 4 coming together. pic.x.com/KxyTszTTt0 – 3:15 PM

More on this storyline
Matt George: The Sacramento Kings have remained open still to a sign-and-trade of Malik Monk to Detroit. They still have a few days to complete that. Meanwhile, the Kings are very engaged on the Jonathan Kuminga front in a deal which, I’m told, likely wouldn’t involve Monk. @ABC10 -via x.com / July 2, 2025
Chris Haynes with updates: CP3: “Bucks have registered interest in him…I’m told he wants to stay closer to home. Clippers and Suns are still in play” Russ: “I thought he would end up in Sacramento. Vincent Goodwill: Pistons signing Duncan Robinson to 3/48M per sources… one would think it takes them out the running for a Malik Monk S/T, along with getting off of Fontecchio -via Twitter @VinceGoodwill / July 1, 2025

“There was some chatter yesterday that like Jonathan Kuminga situation has gotten off to an extremely slow start. He’s not seeing money on the market. Um, you know, it’s going to take a while, but like if Kuminga, you know, finds himself without his ideal options, which I think Miami is topping that list. I think Chicago’s in there, you know, then, you know, keep your eye on that a little bit. -via YouTube / July 2, 2025
