The latest injuries for Golden State and Orlando.
The Golden State Warriors are cruising, having gone 6-1 since acquiring Jimmy Butler III, with five of those wins being blowouts. But now things start to get a little bit more difficult. They face the Orlando Magic tonight at 4:00 p.m. PT, in the first of five consecutive road games.
They’ll have to play well, and they’ll have to hope to stay healthy. Here’s the full injury report.
Warriors
Out — Jonathan Kuminga (right ankle sprain)
Kuminga is scrimmaging and, thankfully, nearing a return. He’s in the last stage of recovery from an ankle injury that will have cost him 25 games after tonight. The Warriors are expecting him to return at some point during this road trip, which is fantastic news.
Out — Yuri Collins (G League assignment)
Since the Dubs are mostly healthy, they’re not bringing all of their available players with them on their trip to the East Coast. Collins, who made his NBA debut a few days ago, will stick with the Santa Cruz Warriors.
Questionable — Trayce Jackson-Davis (illness)
TJD has missed the last two games due to an illness, and he’s out of the rotation at the moment anyway. Hopefully he’s feeling better soon.
Magic
Out — Jalen Suggs (left quad contusion)
Orlando’s season went downhill due to a bunch of injuries, including to Suggs, their starting point guard who was taken two picks ahead of Kuminga in the 2021 NBA Draft. Suggs has only played in 35 games this year, and hasn’t played at all in February.
Out — Mo Wagner (left knee torn ACL)
Mo is the older — and less accomplished — of the Wagner brothers on the Magic. Unfortunately, he’s out for the year with a serious knee injury.
Questionable — Cole Anthony (hyperextended left knee)
Anthony is having a bit of a down year in his fifth NBA season, but has still been a critical player for the Magic, especially with Suggs sidelined. His absence would be a huge hit for Orlando tonight.
Enjoy the action, Dub Nation!
