Warriors vs. Thunder injury report

The full injury report for Wednesday’s game.

Fresh off an encouraging bench-led win over the Utah Jazz on Tuesday night, the Golden State Warriors are back in action for a Wednesday night showdown with the Oklahoma City Thunder on ESPN.

The Thunder have the best record in the NBA and, unlike the Warriors, have not only a day of rest, but two days. So it’s a very difficult game. On the other hand, the Warriors are a little bit healthier than they were on Tuesday, so that’s important. And notably, Dennis Schröder — who exited Tuesday’s game after an awful-looking fall, but was able to return to the game — is not listed as injured.

Here’s the full injury report.

Warriors

Out — Draymond Green (left calf strain)

Green is nearing a return. The Warriors released an injury update on him earlier this week, ruling him out through Friday’s game against the Phoenix Suns. The hope is that he’ll practice on Saturday, and return to action on Monday against the Orlando Magic.

Out — Jonathan Kuminga (right ankle sprain)

Kuminga’s update was a little bit more severe, with the Warriors announcing on Monday that he’ll be re-evaluated in two weeks. The most likely return date for Kuminga is February 21, when the Dubs visit the Sacramento Kings in their first game out of the All-Star break.

Probable — Steph Curry (bilateral knee injury management)

Curry was scratched from Tuesday’s lineup less than two hours before the game. It wasn’t surprising that he didn’t play, as he’s only played in one back-to-back over the last two months as the team monitors his knee. But being such a late scratch had some worried that his knee was flaring up after two off-days, putting his status in jeopardy for this game. But now it looks like the Warriors were just playing it safe, and only held off on announcing it, as he seems good to go for the showdown against fellow All-Star starter Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.

Thunder

Out — Chet Holmgren (right iliac wing fracture)

Holmgren hasn’t played since suffering an injury against the Warriors back on November 10. He’s still a ways away from returning, but is expected to re-join the team this season. They’ve been the best team in the NBA without him, so his return will be scary for the league.

Out — Nikola Topić (left knee surgery)

Topić will have to wait until next year to join Nikolas Jokić, Jović, and Vučević in the esteemed active “Nikola ____ić” group. The No. 12 pick in June’s draft suffered a preseason ACL injury and will miss the entirety of the season.

Out — Ajay Mitchell (right great toe surgery)

Sadly all of my toes are just mediocre, not great. Mitchell was having an awesome season for a rookie second-round pick, but suffered an injury earlier this month that will sideline him for quite a while. OKC is still hoping he’ll return this year, though, something made more likely by the fact that they appear destined for a deep postseason run.

Out — Dillon Jones (G League assignment)

Jones was a late first-round pick in June’s draft, but hasn’t yet broken into the Thunder’s roster. He’s in the G League getting a little seasoning.

Enjoy the action, Dub Nation!
