What Does Draymond Green’s 700 Career 3-Pointers Signify?

December 31, 2024 by Last Word On Pro Basketball

Marking a career milestone, Draymond Green surpassed Jason Richardson for the third-most three-pointers made in Warriors franchise history. The 13-year veteran has surpassed all expectations as the 35th pick in the 2012 NBA Draft, playing his entire career in the Bay Area thus far.

Primarily known for his defensive versatility and playmaking skills, Draymond has carved a niche for himself. A future likely first-ballot Hall of Falmer, the 2017 Defensive Player of the Year does mirror some skills of a three-point shooter. Though not the most reliable long-range shooter, the Warriors forward can surprise at times.

Spending most of his career running the offense alongside the Splash Brothers, Draymond accounted for impressive three-point shooting stretches. Though the Michigan native is a career 32.3% from beyond the arc, he did account for a few impressive seasons, including coming off his most efficient year.

What Does Draymond Green’s 700 Career 3-Pointers Signify?

Breaking Down Draymond Green’s 3-Point Career

Currently standing at 702 made shots from beyond the arc for his career, Draymond is shooting at an impressive 38.5% efficiency this season. The Warriors forward ranks third in most three-pointers made in franchise history. The four-time All-Star might not have the prettiest jump shot. Green can get the job done when the need arises.

Last night Draymond Green eclipsed the 700 made 3s mark and passed up Jason Richardson for 3rd most made threes in Warriors franchise history 🙌

Displaying his long-range ability during the 2015-16 NBA season, Draymond shot 38.8% from the three-point line. Showcasing his versatility, the Warriors forward also finished as a top-three candidate for the DPOY the same year.

The following years did see a drop in Draymond’s efficiency from the three-point line. Nonetheless, the veteran forward seems to have resurrected himself over the last two years. Shooting a career-high 39.5% last season, the Warriors veteran has been showing a version of his craftiness from long range.

Currently posting a productivity of 38.5% from the three-point line, Draymond might have slowed down as far as his scoring prowess goes. But, the four-time champion’s high basketball IQ and ruthless defense continue to make him a crucial asset for any team in the league.

Draymond Green’s Legacy

Only the future will tell if Draymond finishes his career in a Warriors uniform. The veteran star’s unique skills make him a name to remember for the ages though. Despite not having the best reputation in the league, his impact cannot be ignored.

Averaging career stats of 8.7 points, 7.0 rebounds, 5.6 assiste, 1.3 steals, and 1.0 blocks, Draymond makes for a rare breed of players. The Golden State veteran’s contributions go well beyond the traditional analytics, further solidifying his rare repertoire as an NBA player.

A reciepient of several ejections and suspensions, Draymond isn’t your traditional NBA star. Nevertheless, the Warriors forward can be considered among current players as having top-notch playmaking vision. Known to be media savvy, the 2017 steals leader hosts a podcast apart from being an analyst on TNT.

Dray’s camaraderie with NBA superstars like LeBron James, Stephen Curry, and Kevin Durant is a prime example of his leadership and basketball acumen. Entering the later stages of his career, it remains to be seen how much more the Warriors forward has left in the tank.
