Some intriguing names are still on the board.
The first round of the 2025 NBA Draft came and went without any drama for the Golden State Warriors. The team didn’t have a pick during the first day of the draft, and weren’t even involved in any rumors or speculation about a trade up. The closest thing to excitement for Warriors fans came when the pick they gave up in the Jimmy Butler III trade was used, and when the Orlando Magic took Jase Richardson, son of Warriors legend Jason Richardson.
But that will change today. Thursday night is the second and final day of the draft, and the second and final round, and this time the Warriors have a pick. They’ll be 11th on the board today, with the 41st overall pick in the draft. While keeping the pick and making a selection is the most likely scenario, there’s always a chance the Warriors trade it away, or acquire another pick (or both!). Either way, something will happen, and that’s exciting.
So who are you hoping they select? There are a lot of intriguing names on the board, and the Warriors have good options at every position and every skillset. There are plenty of projects to target should the team choose to look further down the road, and also plenty of experienced, seasoned, high-floor players who might be able to contribute in their rookie years, as Quinten Post and Trayce Jackson-Davis both did.
The available player who was ranked highest on SB Nation’s big board is St. Joseph’s forward Rasheer Fleming, whom Ricky O’Donnell ranked as the No. 19 prospect in the draft. Four other top-30 prospects are still available: Creighton center Ryan Kalkbrenner (No. 21), Arkansas forward Adou Thiero (No. 22), Le Mans forward Noah Penda (No. 23), and Marquette guard Kam Jones (No. 25). You can find SB Nation’s list of all the best remaining prospects here.
So who are you hoping lands in a Warriors jersey tonight, Dub Nation? And what should their strategy be going into Day 2?
