Four-star 2027 prospect Nasir Anderson shows out for 16u Game Elite, updates recruitment

COUNSIL BLUFFS, IOWA — Four-star class of 2027 guard Nasir Anderson is turning the heads of coaches and players on the court at the Adidas 3SSB circuit.

“He was tough,” Indiana Elite guard Cooper Zachary told ZAGSBLOG. “I played against him three times. He’s got me twice. That was the first time I beat him. So, he’s a great player. I love guarding him.”

Anderson, the 6-foot-2 guard, put up 18.5 points per game for Game Elite in Iowa, including a 29-point performance against Team Upward Stars on 91% shooting from the field and a perfect 4-for-4 from long distance.

While Anderson has been giving his defenders headaches on the offensive side of the ball, he takes just as much pride in being a lockdown defender.

“I think that’s a big staple in my game,” Anderson told ZAGSBLOG.

Both Anderson’s scoring and defense have gotten him attention from a multitude of college programs. The Georgia native has offers from Georgia, Georgia State, Seton Hall, Auburn, Houston and Louisiana. While he has not planned any visits yet, coaches from Maryland, Houston, Auburn and Cal have come in to watch him play at 3SSB. Here is how he broke down his recruitment process thus far:

Houston: “Coach [Kelvin] Sampson, he was recruiting me, talking to me heavily. But yeah, I just like the environment in Houston, how they play. Their play style is kind of based on aggressiveness, on defense and stuff. I like the dog mentality they have.”

Auburn: “Yeah I’m in contact with Bruce Pearl. Auburn’s environment and atmosphere out there is great. And it’s kind of close to home, so that’s a plus.”

Maryland: “I was just in contact with the coach [Buzz Williams]. I haven’t really built a relationship with him yet, and I don’t really know much, but I’m looking forward to getting to know the coach.”

Cal: “Cal, yeah, I just started building a relationship with the coach [Mark Madsen], but I’m looking forward to going out there on visits.”

Georgia: “I’ve been there a couple of times just for, like, unofficially watching the game. I like their environment as well. I like the coach [Mike White]. He lets the guards play freely. Georgia’s a good environment. And it’s close to my hometown.”

Georgia Tech: “Georgia Tech, I’m in contact with [Damon] Stoudamire a lot, so that’s a plus. And then I just like — Georgia Tech is also close to home. It’s Adidas. So it kind of makes sense.”

Anderson’s search for his next home is still open, and he’s a long ways away from a decision. But he knows he is looking for a place that can provide a family-like environment.

“Going somewhere where I’m going to be loved,” he said. “Like I said, just having a good team, or having a good base. My coaches, knowing what my strengths are when my weaknesses are, helping me work on them, and stuff like that.”

As for himself, Anderson hopes to be a floor general who can lead his team to winning basketball games this summer.

“I could be that leader on the court,” he said. “I’m going to do whatever it takes to get the win. And just looking forward to helping my teammates get better.”

Anderson is the No. 40 recruit in the 2027 class according to 247Sports. His favorite player is Lebron James and his favorite hobby is listening to music.
