With Day 1 of the NFL draft in the books, there still hasn’t been a trade for San Francisco superstar Deebo Samuel. But according to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport, it wasn’t for a lack of trying from two prospective NFL franchises.
During an appearance with The Pat McAfee Show on Friday, Rapoport revealed that both the New York Jets and Detroit Lions made trade offers for Deebo.
“The Jets offered pick No. 10 and a pick swap for Deebo Samuel. The 49ers wouldn’t do it,” Rapoport explained. “The Lions had an offer on the table… The 49ers just wouldn’t engage.”

Though neither of these teams were able to land Deebo, they were able to land some of the best wide receiver talent in this year’s draft.
The Jets are widely considered the big winners from last night’s first round. After taking Ahmad “Sauce” Gardner at No. 4, the New York franchise used pick No. 10 to select Ohio State star Garrett Wilson. The Lions traded up 20 spots to select Alabama standout WR Jameson Williams at No. 12.
Deebo, who requested a trade away from San Francisco earlier this offseason, remains on the 49ers’ roster.
“There’s a lot more questions than answers on the Deebo Samuel situation now that he didn’t get traded last night,” Rapoport added.
