After spending his entire career with the San Francisco 49ers, wide receiver Jauan Jennings could join the Washington Commanders in a possible trade scenario. Bleacher Report does not believe the Jennings trade rumors will die down anytime, even though he’s nursing a calf injury. Despite that, it shouldn’t dissuade teams from pursuing him if they are “receiver-needy” and the Commanders find themselves as one of the several rosters that are looking for another pass-catcher. Originally selected in the seventh round of the 2020 NFL Draft, the former Tennessee product could find himself in a new uniform before the 2025 regular season after putting in an impressive 2024 campaign.
Jennings is reporting to training camp, but earlier this offseason, he was requesting a new contract or to be traded if he doesn’t get his wish. Obviously, since he’s dealing with an injury, he probably doesn’t have the leverage, but this could change once he gets back to full health. It’s easy to see why Jennings wasn’t a fit before with the Commanders since the two teams were able to negotiate a trade that sent Deebo Samuel to Washington. Will the 49ers send another wide receiver to the Commanders?
Probably not, so these four other teams could be in the mix to pursue Jennings.

Other Possible Suitors
Los Angeles Chargers
Even though they’re bringing back Keenan Allen for a year, the Los Angeles Chargers are better off embracing the rebuild between Ladd McConkey, KeAndre Lambert-Smith and Tre Harris. They won’t get far with Allen, especially if Allen is past his prime and won’t be doing much as a main contributor for the offensive pass-attack. Jennings is a little older, too, but he’s much younger to spend at least the next five years with the Chargers and several prime-time years in Los Angeles.
Dallas Cowboys
Meanwhile, the Dallas Cowboys have two high-profile wide receivers in George Pickens and CeeDee Lamb, but after that, it’s really just any wide receiver spot up for grabs. Jalen Tolbert is entering the final year of his contract, and this will be Jonathan Mingo’s last chance to prove he could be a reliable WR4 at least. However, the Cowboys should build a high-caliber trio between Pickens, Lamb and Jennings.
Baltimore Ravens
However, the Baltimore Ravens are in the same boat as Dallas, but they have a reliable veteran WR3, DeAndre Hopkins. Zay Flowers and Rashod Bateman won’t get fewer snaps, but it’s better to get another long-term pass-catcher to help the offense be great for years to come. Jennings could fit the scheme and be another speedy option for Lamar Jackson.
New Orleans Saints
Since the New Orleans Saints will have quarterback competition this 2025 campaign, they might well get all of the talent that they can get to give them a fighting chance. Jennings is arguably a better pass-catcher than what they have in Brandin Cooks as the presumptive WR3 behind Chris Olave and Rashid Shaheed. Tyler Shough or Spencer Rattler could benefit from a homegrown receiver who could be a long-term weapon in New Orleans.
