Arik Armstead and Samson Ebukam did not practice on Friday
The 49ers returned to the practice field on Friday, and Emmanuel Moseley and Jauan Jennings joined them for the first time this training camp.
It didn’t take long for Moseley to make an impact, as he broke up a pass against Deebo Samuel — which ended up being his only target of the day. But, outside of that, Moseley looked comfortable in coverage, and like the player, the Niners need opposite of Jason Verrett at cornerback.
Nick Bosa returned to practice, though he still has yet to participate during team drills. Hopefully, that changes in time for Saturday’s scrimmage. Javon Kinlaw was back at practice, too.
Samson Ebukam missed his second practice in a row with soreness while Arik Armstead was working off to the side. It’s unclear whether Armstead had a maintenance day or if he is nursing an injury. I’d lean the former, but we’ll find out on Saturday.
The biggest news is Jaquiski Tartt. He was removed from the reserve/COVID-19 list and placed on the PUP list with a toe injury. Unfortunately, that means Tartt won’t practice or play the first six weeks of the season.
That opens the door for Tavon Wilson, who had another good day on Friday, to start. It also allows an additional safety to make the roster. So far, there hasn’t been anyone outside of Wilson, and Jimmie Ward that have consistently made plays at safety.
On Friday, Talanoa Hufanga had his best day of camp. However, we’re still waiting for Tony Jefferson to make a play.
