The 49ers activated second-year wideout Ricky Pearsall from the Active/PUP list
The San Francisco 49ers announced that they activated second-year wide receiver Ricky Pearsall from the Physically Unable to Perform List. Pearsall was captured shaking hands with fans on the way into practice, donning his new, No. 1 jersey:

Pearsall had been out for an extended period after he tweaked his hamstring during the summer. The 49ers might take it slow with Pearsall, who was also seen returning punts:

Running back Christian McCaffrey has the day off with pads coming on Monday. Sunday’s practice should be relatively light. The team had the day off from practice on Saturday, and Monday is the first fully padded practice of training camp. You’d expect the coaching staff to dial up the physicality then.
Brock Purdy was also back at practice after being excused on Friday for a personal matter. Purdy will welcome Pearsall as the two will look to build chemistry. It’ll be fascinating to see what Kyle Shanahan and the coaching staff have in mind for Pearsall’s role this season.
Will he be a predominant slot receiver? Will he play away from the formation so Brandon Aiyuk could slide into the “X” spot, and the slot can be manned by Demarcus Robinson, Jauan Jennings, and perhaps Jacob Cowing? Pearsall’s versatility will go a long way in the offense’s success. He’ll need to stay healthy and avoid getting nicked up to build that camaraderie with Purdy.
