Safety Tony Jefferson got some brutal news from San Francisco 49ers camp today. He will miss a second straight season after suffering an injury during practice.
Jefferson, who entered the league in 2013, suffered a torn ACL in an October 2019 game as member of the Baltimore Ravens. The team released him after the season.
He missed all of 2020 recovering from the injury. In early June, he signed a one-year deal with the 49ers, as he looked to get his career back on track. Unfortunately, injuries have ended that 2021 comeback attempt before it really started.
Jefferson missed time in camp with groin and hamstring injuries. While the full extent is not known, the team is shutting him down and ending his year.

The news comes after the 49ers signed another pretty big-named veteran to the same position. Former Green Bay Packers, Chicago Bears, and Washington safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, an All-Pro in 2016, is one of the newest members of the 49ers.
Tony Jefferson has been a quality NFL player since breaking into the league, and was a reliable every week player until the 2019 injury. He played in all but one game in four years with the Arizona Cardinals from 2013-2016, and played all 16 games for the Ravens in 2017, and 14 of 16 games in 2018.
Hopefully he can get back on the field and get his career back on track next year.
