The deadline was 1 p.m. PT.
The 49ers needed to get to 85 players on their roster by 1 p.m. PT on Tuesday, and they did so by releasing tight end Josh Perkins and waived/injured Austin Watkins Jr. The team also officially announced they waived Ken Webster.
If Watkins Jr. goes unclaimed, which you’d imagine he would with a broken foot, he’ll revert to the 49ers injured reserve.
After missing 10 days on the COVID list, cornerback Emmanuel Moseley is now dealing with a hamstring strain. That’s….not a good sign if your starter is dealing with hamstring issues this early in camp.
I’d expect Demmodore Lenoir and Dontae Johnson to work opposite Jason Verrett if Moseley’s injury lingers.
Trent Williams wasn’t on the practice field to start Tuesday after getting tangled up during Monday’s practice. Williams has “knee swelling.”
Let’s hope the swelling goes down and it’s not a knee sprain for Williams. Depending on if it’s a Grade 1 or 2, Williams should be fully healed in two weeks. If it were a Grade 2, Williams could miss as much as a month.
WR Jalen Hurd did not practice, while DT Javon Kinlaw and safeties Jaquiski Tartt and Tavon Wilson were rehabbing off to the side.
