Following Sunday’s loss, the San Francisco 49ers suffered another brutal blow in the injury department.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, 49ers right tackle Mike McGlinchey suffered a torn quad and will miss the remainder of the season. San Francisco placed McGlinchey on injured reserve and freed up a roster spot.
McGlinchey was injured during the second quarter of Sunday’s loss to the Arizona Cardinals, where he was replaced by Tom Compton. Compton projects to serve as McGlinchey’s replacement for the remainder of the 2021 season.

McGlinchey’s bounce-back season was cut short with his torn quad. He hadn’t missed a snap all season before his injury.
McGlinchey is no stranger to injuries. He missed a good portion of the 2019 season with a knee issue before rebounding in 2020, where he started all 16 games. That won’t be the case this season, as McGlinchey’s focus turns to rehabbing his quad.
