San Francisco had one roster spot open as they get ready for training camp
San Francisco worked out Anthony Zettel on Monday. Zettel played for the Niners in Week 17 and the first two playoff games during the ‘19 season. The team released Daeshon Hall over the weekend, which opened up a roster spot.
Per Doug Kyed, who recently covered the Patriots for the past decade and is now an NFL reporter for PFF, the 49ers are signing former Bills and Vikings DE Eddie Yarbrough.
Yarbrough, 28, appeared in four games last season with the Vikings, where he finished with eight tackles, and a QB hit. Before that, he did not play in 2019 before playing the two previous seasons with the Buffalo Bills. Yarbrough started six games in 2017 with Buffalo. He has one career sack and has played 852 snaps during his career.
Yarbrough bounced back and forth between the Vikings practice squad last season. He was waived by the Bills before the start of the 2019 season. The 49ers must’ve liked what they saw from Yarbrough during his workout more than what Zettel brought to the table.
Either way, both are likely camp bodies as the Niners’ defensive line is deep.
