A turnover could go a long way in winning this game for the 49ers
The 49ers are down 17-7 at half to Colt McCoy and the Cardinals backups on offense. Here’s how the drives have gone for each team to start the game:
Niners: punt, fumble, punt, fumble, touchdown
Cardinals: Punt, TD, TD, field goal
Colt McCoy has thrown for 145 yards on 9.7 yards per attempt. He’s been sacked once. Life has been too easy for him. A trick play that led to a 50-yard gain is a big chunk of that, but Arizona also had a 33-yard gain.
Let’s hope we’ve seen the last of Josh Norman. His penalty was inexcusable, and, in my opinion, he put himself above the team by acting the way he did. I wouldn’t play him again.
Offensively, the 49ers are stopping the 49ers. Although a few of his throws have been wide, Jimmy Garoppolo is 12 of 16 for 154 yards. I’d also add that the final sack was his fault. Still, Kittle and Aiyuk cannot fumble the ball.
Even though the 49ers are down ten points at halftime, it feels like they will win this game. However, a turnover by McCoy would go a long way. Fred Warner had the ball in his hands on a fumble recovery, but it slipped out and allowed a Cardinals field goal.
