While preseason games don’t count, there’ll be plenty of reason to have eyeballs on the 49ers offense when they take the field Saturday for their preseason debut against the Chiefs.
Injuries and COVID-19 issues slowed head coach Kyle Shanahan’s offense a season ago, and now even with their health intact there are enough question marks that’ll be answered in part by their preseason contests.
The 49ers were No. 2 in the NFL in scoring in 2019 when they went to the Super Bowl. They’ll need a similar offensive output this year to put themselves in the conversation again.
