There has been a major development in the Brandon Aiyuk situation.
According to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, the star wide receiver has officially requested a trade from the San Francisco 49ers.
He notes that Aiyuk and the team have been unable to agree on an extension and haven’t engaged in negotiations since May.

This has been a headache for the 49ers all offseason and they’ll now be taking more calls on the star wideout.
He requested a trade a week before veterans are expected to show up for training camp next week so if a deal isn’t finalized over the next week, Aiyuk could decide to not show up for camp.
Even if he doesn’t show up, the 49ers may still not trade Aiyuk unless they can get fair value back.

IMO: No trade. Can’t help this season’s situation unless it’s for another elite WR straight up + more https://t.co/LOL073Pjkh

Aiyuk has been one of the top receivers in the NFL since he came into the league in 2020. He finished the 2023 season with 75 receptions for 1,342 yards and seven touchdowns.
For his career so far, Aiyuk has compiled 269 receptions for 3,931 yards and 25 touchdowns.
Time will tell if Aiyuk actually gets traded by the 49ers or if they step up and try to get an extension done.
