Jim Tomsula’s NFL coaching career didn’t go as planned in San Francisco but the former 49ers coach appears to have found great success in Europe.
Over the weekend, Tomsula was named the Coach of the Year in the European League of Football after leading his Rhein Fire to a perfect 12-0 record and capturing a championship in a landslide 53-34 victory.

It’s nice to see Tomsula do what he’s done overseas after a tough 17-game stretch with the Niners. Situations are everything and sometimes it’s just not the right time for either party.
Tomsula went 6-11 as the head coach of the 49ers in the aftermath of Jim Harbaugh’s run in San Fran.
With that said though, he’s instantly become a coaching legend in the world of Euro league football and hopefully he’s able to build upon it further as it continues to expand.
Tomsula last coached in the NFL as a defensive line coach for the Dallas Cowboys in 2020.
