Your daily San Francisco 49ers news for Monday, May 27th, 2024
Gregg Rosenthal breaks down 49ers’ starters, identifies Ricky Pearsall’s role
“The defensive line has a different vibe,” Rosenthal noted. “The 49ers went hard on solid mid-level veterans who can soak up snaps, signing Leonard Floyd, Maliek Collins, Jordan Elliott and Yetur Gross-Matos. Beyond Nick Bosa and Javon Hargrave, the group is not as flashy as it once was.”
“Ward received his best-ever overall grade from PFF last season and allowed a paltry 63.7 passer rating when targeted. He was one of the NFL’s best CBs without question.
Then there was Lenoir who came on strong at the end of 2022 and carried into 2023 where he posted his career-best overall PFF grade while splitting time between outside and in the slot. He also had a career-high six pass breakups to go along with his three interceptions.”
Kocurek hopes Jackson utilizes his versatility in third 49ers season
“He’s been here 24/7, since shortly after the Super Bowl,” Kocurek said. “He was back here going through his rehab process. He is always an inquisitive person in the meeting room, always wanting to know the reasons why. He sits right next to me, actually, so he has stayed on top of it, and it’s just a matter of getting his rehab and getting back as fast as he can.”
