The 49ers on Tuesday reported for training camp. Reporting day includes physicals for each team and the placement of injured players on injury lists to begin camp. Fortunately for San Francisco their reporting day didn’t have a ton of injury news, but Jimmy Garoppolo’s status offered a headline because of what his health means for his and the team’s immediate future.
There are a couple lists a player can start camp on. The Non-Football Injury list includes players who were injured in a setting that was not an NFL game or practice. There’s also the Physically Unable to Perform list which is where players who suffered injuries in an NFL setting start.
During camp players can be removed from those lists at any point. There’s no designated length of time they must stay there like there is in the regular season.
